Who am I?

My whole life, I have been surrounded by music. Before I even knew how to play an instrument, I was singing anywhere I could. Fast forward to elementary school and I began learning to play the trombone, later switching to the bass trombone. Those skills that I learned in early band, like putting in practice and working hard to achieve my goals stuck with me throughout my academic and professional journey.

After a successful high school career in music, athletics, and academics, I chose to attend San Diego State University. Although initially Undeclared, I was accepted into SDSU’s Music, Entrepreneurship and Business program in my first semester. Through this program, I have refined my musicianship under the guidance of renowned brass players and preparing solo pieces to improve my bass trombone skills. However, while I dedicated time and practice to perfecting my first instrument, I built experience performing in other settings as well.

One of my most rewarding musical experiences has been playing in Cherry Knot, my first rock band and the first group where I played bass. This all-female band has been a powerful learning tool, helping me grow as a musician by improving my bass chops, songwriting skills, stage presence, and even my understanding of music production and recording. Playing rock music has broadened my musical skills and made me a more versatile musician.

I also play with Kocean, a San Diego-based band that was established before I became involved. With Kocean, I’ve faced more challenging music, taking on a more prominent role on stage while deepening my involvement in the social media marketing side of the project.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to graduate in Spring 2025, and I plan to seize any opportunity that comes my way, always staying true to the work ethic that’s guided me so far. No matter what, I will continue to make music and strive to elevate my bands through innovative marketing, networking, and a relentless commitment to artistic excellence.
